History
Glanworth (meaning 'yew valley') is a village commonly known as 'The Harbour' which stems from the ninth century invasion of the Vikings, who sailed inland as far as the monastery at Glanworth. Built next to the 13th Century Glanworth Castle, Glanworth Mill was constructed around 1840 as part of a famine relief scheme and it is one of the last remaining reverse undershot water wheels in Ireland. The property is overlooking Glanworth Bridge which is a 15th Century magical structure which is said to be the narrowest and oldest public bridge in everyday use in Europe.
